The taxpayer's city wages are not pulling from the local wage box.
If you are preparing a return for a Michigan city that uses the Common Form for municipal tax returns, you cannot use the local wage box 18 because of local tax laws. Common Form instructions direct that box 18 of Form W-2 is not to be used in reporting wages taxable to a city. Accordingly, for these city returns, the software does not use box 18 information.
