When I open certain types of files, the file is opening in the wrong program. How can I change this?
With Drake Software and additional features interacting with multiple software programs such as Microsoft and Adobe products, you may find that a file is opening or displaying using software you no longer want to use for that function. For example, when you use Drake Documents (previously Drake Document Manager), if .pdf files are opening in something other than Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may want to change it so that .pdf files always open with Adobe Reader.
This action has also resolved the error "Unable to Start... No application is associated with the specified file for this operation" and "Error 31 in FindExecutable" when using Drake Documents.
You can change what program opens a certain file type by changing file associations in Windows. If the program you want to use is installed on your computer, you can select it to open a file type.
Windows 10. Select the Start menu and go to Settings. On the Settings window, select System, and then choose Default apps. On the right, select the option Choose default apps by file type near the bottom of the list. This will open a list of all file types sorted alphabetically. Scroll down to find the appropriate file extension. For the above example, find .pdf PDF File in the list. To the right of .pdf, click to Choose a default app, and select Adobe Reader from the available programs/apps. Close out of the Choose Default Apps by File Type screen.
