I can't generate a 1040-EZ or a 1040-A. I do not have either suppressed in Setup > Options > Form & Schedule Options, nor do I have them suppressed on the PRNT screen in data entry.
Starting in Drake18, as per Form 1040 instructions, the 1040-A and 1040-EZ forms will no longer be used. Starting in Drake19, a new Form 1040-SR may be generated; see Related Links below.
In Drake17 and prior, the presence of Schedule A, B, Form 6251 or Form 8959 on a return will prevent a 1040-A as well as a 1040-EZ from being produced. You can improve the likelihood of a short-form return by setting options to make sure these forms are not produced in a return unless they are necessary.
To do this, go to the Form & Schedule Options tab (Setup > Options) and examine the Select To Turn ON section on the left side of the screen. Check the following boxes:
- Print Schedule A only when required
- Print Schedule B only when required
- Print Form 6251 only when required
