11198: 1040 - Entering Capital Gain Without Schedule D

1040 Individual

How do I enter a Capital gain (or loss), when Schedule D is not required?

To get an amount to show on

  • Form 1040, line 7 in Drake20 and future,
  • Form 1040, line 6 in Drake19,
  • Schedule 1, line 13 in Drake18,
  • Form 1040, line 13 in Drake17 and prior,

enter the amount on the DIV screen, line 2a in the Total column. If you have to enter anything in lines 2b, 2c or 2d you are likely to need a Schedule D, which the software will generate.
