How do I enter a state pickup contribution so that it will flow through to the Maryland return?
Working with a W-2:
Open the W2 screen for the W-2 with the ST field of line 15 pointed to Maryland (MD). Check the data entry on line 14. It must read exactly "STPICKUP" and the amount must be entered.
View the return. The state pickup amount appears on line 3 of the MD 502.
Working with a 1099-R:
Open the 1099 screen for the 1099-R with the State field of 15 pointed to Maryland (MD). Enter the literal "STPICKUP" in the Locality name field (line 18) and the amount in the Local distribution field (line 19).
Check line 2a (Taxable amount) in the federal section to make sure that there is an amount entered.
View the return. The state pickup contribution will flow through on the MD 502, line 13, with a code of R.
