11455: Font Printing Too Large

Printing Setup

Fonts are printing too big in the Windows program and on the forms. How can I fix this?

The necessary fonts may not be printer-resident and must be downloaded with print jobs. One of the adjustments described below may resolve the problem.

For Windows 7:

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel
  2. Under Hardware and Sound (Category view) click View devices and printers.
  3. Right click your printer and from the drop list, select Properties.
  4. On the General tab click Printing Preferences.
  5. On the Advanced tab, click Substitute with Device Font.
  6. From the drop list, select Download as Softfont.
  7. Click OK to save changes and exit.

For Windows 10:

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Connected Devices > Devices and Printers (under Related Settings).
  2. Right click on your printer and, from the drop list, select Printing Preferences
  3. On the Print Quality tab, locate True Type on the right hand side.
  4. Under the True Type Mode drop down, select Download as bit image
  5. Click Apply and then OK to save changes and exit.

Notes:

  • The actual location of these options through the printer Properties dialog box depends on your printer and you may have to look around to identify it. Another possible path is General Tab > Printing Preferences > Advanced or Print Quality. You may see the option “True Type Mode: Download as TrueType” which you can toggle to “Download as bit image.”
  • If you have not resolved a printer issue after exhausting printer settings and Drake Software settings, install the latest printer driver available for your operating system. Review your printer instruction manual or your vendor website for more information.
  • If the font is overlapping on the return in view mode, but prints correctly, see Related Links below.
