How do I mark the box on a 1040 return to indicate that the spouse is itemizing on an MFS return or you were a dual-status alien?
The box is checked by the software in an MFS (Married Filing Separate) return when itemizing is forced on the A screen by selection of Force itemized.
Starting in Drake18, the check box is located in the demographic section on page 1 of the 1040.
Note: In Drake17 and prior, this checkbox is located on line 39b of the 1040, page 2.
