When I enter the current year in Line 12 of the W-2, why do I receive EF Message 5307, and how can I resolve it?
EF Message 5307 states:
INVALID YEAR ENTERED: The "Year" entered for prior-year Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) contributions on box 12 of screen W2 (Wages) must be between 1994 and 2022.
Do not enter a year if the box 12 code does not pertain to USERRA contributions.
The year field on Line 12 of the W-2 is for entry of the "prior year USERRA contribution" only.
If the entry, for example, is for a contribution the taxpayer made to a 401K in the current tax year, you need only enter the code (such as "D") and the amount of the contribution.
