11874: NC - Annual Report Fee

North Carolina

How do I file the North Carolina Annual Report and pay the annual fee for a NC Corporation?

NC Corporations must file their annual reports by the 15th day of the fourth month following the end of the corporation's tax year. For calendar year filers, this is April 15th. Senate Bill 628 alters the filing and payment methods for the NC Annual Report and fee, effective August 11, 2017. Previously, the report could be filed through the NC Secretary of Revenue and submitted with the regular corporate tax return, or filed with the NC Secretary of State online. Starting August 11, 2017, the report can only be filed through the NC Secretary of State. Due to these changes, the NC Annual Report and fee options are no longer supported in Drake Tax.

The Annual Report must be completed through the NC Secretary of State WebsiteTo begin, search for the business entity for whom the annual report should be filed. Once you have located the entity, you can choose to complete the Annual Report filing online, or print a pre-populated annual report form for paper submission.

A business corporation annual report filed online is $20. If filed in paper form, the fee is $25. A Limited Liability Company and Limited Liability Partnership annual report fee is $203.
