11924: CA - State Registration Number

California is one of several states that require certain tax preparers who file returns for a fee to register with the state and obtain a Registration Number.

To enter your California registration number, go to Setup > Preparer(s) and locate the State Registration Numbers section and click the Registration button. Enter your California Registration Number in the appropriate field, and click OK to save the entry. Be sure to Save the preparer setup screen before exiting.

CA CPAs should leave the Registration Number field blank in Setup > Preparers to allow the checkbox CPA to be marked on Form 3596. The Power of Attorney Information section on Setup > Preparers should be completed instead.
