14142: NYC - Amending NYC-1127

New York

How do I amend NY Form NYC 1127, Nonresident Employees Return

If the taxpayer files a New York State (NYS) tax return or amended return and the information reported on their original NYC-1127 is changed or corrected as a result of the later filing of the NYS return or amended return, an amended Form NYC-1127 must be filed.

To amend the NYC-1127 in Drake:

  1. Go to the States tab and click on NY.
  2. In the New York data entry screens, click on the Cities tab.
  3. On the lower right, select 1127 (NYC Nonresident Employees) screen.
  4. At the top of this screen, select Amended NYC-1127 (Read Help).

  1. See the field help (F1) to see if an amount should be entered on line 4 of this screen. Line 4 help reads:
    1. If a refund was due to the taxpayer originally, the refund will be directly deposited to their account (or a check mailed). After the amended return is processed, a second payment will be deposited or mailed.
    2. If the taxpayer owed money and paid what was due, and adjustment to the return reduces the amount due, the difference will be refunded to the taxpayer in the same manner. However, in this situation, the taxpayer should include amount paid with the original return, along with the amount withheld, on line 4 of the amended return.
  2. Make any additional changes needed to the form.
  3. View the return. In the View/Print mode, the NYC-1127 will have an Amended Return check box in the upper right corner of the form. If there is an X marked to the left of Amended Return, the form is considered the Amended form.

See the NYC-1127 form instructions for more information.
