14221: 1040 - Note 478 - Form 4137

Note 478 reads:

Tips were entered on screen W2 for this return. Any adjusting entries can be made on screen 4137 by entering the employer's EIN, employer's name, and the adjustment amounts.

Note 478 generates when there is an entry on the Soc Sec tips and/or Allocated tips line(s) of the W2 screen.

This note indicates that if any adjustments need to be made to the amount of allocated tips entered, those adjustments can be made on the 4137 - Tax on Tips screen, which can be found on the Taxes tab in data entry of the return. Note 478 will not prevent e-filing of the tax return.

Note that the Tips received and Tips reported fields shown above are adjustment fields. A positive entry will increase the amount that automatically generates based on the W2 screen data entry, while a negative entry will decrease the amount that automatically generates based on the W2 screen data entry.
