14868: State Returns - Blank Estimated Tax Vouchers Not Allowed

State Returns Generally

If I am trying to print state estimated tax vouchers with no amount, why is it that I do not see them in View Mode of the return?

This is occurring because many states now use scannable forms, they do not allow blank estimated tax vouchers to be printed.  In order to produce estimated tax vouchers, an amount to be paid must be shown. This can be done by completing the ES Estimated Taxes screen. If an ES code is selected, the software will automatically calculate the estimated payment based on information on the return. If a specific amount is desired, this can be entered manually for each voucher on the ES screen.

The following states do not allow blank estimated tax vouchers to be printed:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Connecticut
  • District of Columbia
  • Delaware
  • Georgia
  • Hawaii
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Louisiana
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Montana
  • North Carolina
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
