14944: NY - EF Message 2044

New York

How would I clear New York red EF Message 2044?

NY EF Message 2044 states:

NY WITHHOLDING REPORTED ON A 1099-G NOT ISSUED BY THE NYS DOL: The EIN entered in the 'Payer's EIN' or the 'State ID Number' field does not match the EIN for the New York State Department of Labor (NYS DOL) on file with the NYS DTF.

This error will generate when the EIN entered in the Payer's EIN field or the State ID Number field does not match the EIN provided by NYS DTF as the ONLY valid EIN for the NYS DOL.

THINGS TO CHECK:
(1) The EIN for the NYS DOL must be entered in BOTH the 'Payer's EIN' and 'State ID Number' fields, AND

(2) The 'Payer's EIN' field cannot be blank, must match the EIN for the NYS DOL that the NYS DTF has on file, and must contain only digits (0 - 9), AND

(3) The 'State ID Number' field cannot be blank, must match the EIN for the NYS DOL that the NYS DTF has on file, AND must contain only digits (0 - 9)

If you have a return with New York withholding from a 1099-G that appears on an IT-201 line 72, or an IT-203 line 62, the return must be paper filed per the New York state instructions.

For further instruction, please see the NY IT-201 and NY IT-203 instructions.
