15049: Client Already Exists - Updating from Prior Year (DAS)

Drake Accounting®: When I try to update a client from last year, I get a message saying the client already exists.

 

When attempting to update a client under Client > Update Prior Year, some of these clients may have a shaded background. The shaded background indicates that the client has already been updated into the current year Drake Accounting®

 

If one of those clients are selected to update, you will be prompted with a warning message shown below.




The warning message will allow you to overwrite the client’s file if you proceed and select Yes. It is recommended to do a backup before overriding the client file.

There are two options that are available if you do not wish to overwrite the existing client file. Click No in that warning message and open the client for review.

  • If the information is accurate, there is no need to update again.
  • If the information is not accurate, delete the client file (Client > Delete) and update again from the prior year.

Any data you have entered in an existing client file must be reentered after you update. You may want to print reports before deletion, so the data is readily available for reentry.​​
