15108: On The Fly (DAS)

Drake Accounting®: What is On The Fly?

“On The Fly” is a data entry method that generates a specific form but does not enter or require entries within the financial data in bookkeeping. On the fly data entry allows you to generate a form without entering previous transactions that are reflected on the form. For example, you can print a W2 without setting up employees or entering payroll transactions that are reflected on the W-2. Once the form is generated, none of the financial data is retained in the program.

On the fly forms appear under the On the Fly module in the tree mode.

Forms that can be created on the fly are:

94x 1099 1098 w-2G W2/W3
940 1096 1096 W-2/W-3
941 1099-A 1098-T  W-2C/W-3C
941-PR 1099-B 1098-MORT
941-SS 1099-C W-2G
941-X 1099-DIV
943 1099-INT
943-X 1099-MISC
944 1099-PATR
944-X 1099-R
945 1099-S

Forms that can be created on the fly as well as through payroll and date generated forms are the 94X series, Forms W-2/W-3, and Form 1099-MISC.

A W-2c can be created either through Payroll or On the Fly, but requires a processed W-2 in the same module.
