How do I set up a client to use SecureFilePro Connect? 

There are three ways to set up a client to use SFP Connect:

  • Set up SFP Connect for a current Drake Tax client with a current SFP account
  • Set up an SFP Connect account for a current Drake Tax client
  • Set up an SFP Connect account for a new Drake Tax client

Note: After setting up SFP Connect for a client, they are able to use their credentials in traditional SFP as well as SFP Connect.

Set Up SFP Connect for a Current Drake Tax Client with a Current SFP Account

  1. Check if the accounts are already linked:
    • In Drake Documents, select the Drake Tax client from the list on the left:
      • If the SFP pane displays the Files, Connect, Messenger, and Signature tabs, the accounts are already linked and you are ready to connect with your client.
      • If the SFP pane displays the Search and Create buttons, then the accounts are not yet linked.
  2. If the accounts are not yet linked, link them:
  1. In Drake Documents, select the Drake Tax client from the list on the left.

     

  2. Click the Search button.*

     

  3. Choose the client from the list of names.
  4. Click Open.

     

  5. Confirm the linking of the accounts on the pop-up dialog box by clicking Yes

     

  6. Send an SFP Connect invitation email:

    • Click on the Connect tab.
    • Click the Upload button to upload demographic information.

      OR

    • If SFP Connect will only be used to transfer files and sign documents, you can simply upload a file to the client and the invitation email will be sent.

Note: When the client follows the link in the invitation email, they will be able to use their traditional SFP username and password.

 

Set Up an SFP Connect Account for a Current Drake Tax Client

  1. Open the client’s return in Drake Tax.
  2. Click the Documents button on the top of the Data Entry screen.
  3. After Drake Documents opens, click the Create button in the SFP Connect pane.

     

  4. Enter the client’s email address.
  5. Check the Send activation email box.
  6. Select Send link for SFP Connect or Send link for Traditional SFP
  7. Click Create

 

Note: When the client follows the link in the invitation email, they’ll be able to establish their own username and password.

 

Set up an SFP Account for a New Drake Tax Client

  • Check that the client is in Drake Documents:
    1. Open Drake Documents,
    2. Select the client from the list on the left,
    3. If the client does not appear in the list, either:
  1. Select Add Client (archive cabinet only) at the top and complete the following fields:
    • First and Last Name
    • SSN/ID Number
  2. Then select the client from the list on the left.

OR 

  1. Create a return for the client in Drake Tax:
    1. Enter their basic demographic information on Federal screen 1,
    2. Click the Documents button on the top of the Data Entry screen,
    3. When Drake Documents opens, the client will appear in the list.
  • Once the client is in Drake Documents, 
    1. Click Create.
    2. Enter the client’s email address.
    3. Check the Send activation email box.
    4. Select SFP Connect or traditional SFP.
    5. Click Create.

 

Note: When the client follows the link in the invitation email, they’ll be able to establish their own username and password.

 

*If you accidentally select the wrong client from the list, click the Change button to choose the correct SFP client to associate with the client in Drake Documents.
