Drake Accounting®: How do I access the Drake Accounting® Trial Software? 

 

Drake Accounting® is Drake Software's Accounting/Payroll application. Drake Accounting® provides the ability to manage basic client financial records through the use of double-entry accounting. A number of reports are provided including multi-column profit and loss reports, pre-posted reports, comparative or single column balance sheets, and payroll reports.

Use Drake Accounting® to enter vendor invoices, print (and reprint) live vendor checks, and enter after-the-fact vendor invoice information for accounting purposes. Use the Accounts Payable module or “Check Writer” to print vendor checks.

FAQs about the Drake Accounting® Trial

How do I install/obtain a trial version of Drake Accounting®?

  1. Visit DrakeSoftware.com.
  2. Navigate to Products Drake Accounting Try For Free
  3. Indicate whether you have a current Drake account. 
    1. If Yes, the download will begin immediately. Use your Drake Account information to complete the software installation.
    2. If No, complete the required information for your office and click Submit. The download will begin and a confirmation email will be sent to the email address listed. 
  4. Use the steps listed in Related Links below to complete the Drake Accounting® installation.
  5. After DAS has been installed, when you open the program the first time you will be asked "Did you use Drake Accounting last year?" Select No

 

  1. The Firm Information Setup screen will display. Complete all the required fields (indicated by a red exclamation point).
    • You do not need to enter your EFIN (temporary or IRS issued), Account #, or e-file password (blue (i) indicator below) for the trial version.
  2. Click Save

 

  1. The Trial Mode window will display. On the prompt, "Would you like to activate your copy of Drake Accounting at this time?" select No
  1. Use the radio button to select whether you want to test the Full Version or Forms Version and then click OK

Note that each time you open the Drake Accounting trial, you will be prompted to activate. If you have not purchased a license, click No to continue in trial mode. 

What serial number should I use when prompted?

No serial number is required for the Drake Accounting® Trial. Upon purchase of Drake Accounting®, Drake will supply a serial number to activate Drake Accounting®.

How long will my Drake Accounting® trial last? 

The Drake Accounting® trial is available for 90 days, beginning on the first day of accessing the trial. 

Are there any features that are unavailable in the trial version of Drake Accounting®

In the trial mode of Drake Accounting®, you have full use of the program for 90 days, however, all forms printed will have a watermark. After activation, all previously printed forms, which can be found under Tools > Review Reports, will have the watermark removed.

e-Filing and Portal use are disabled within trial mode. 

I have purchased the full version of Drake Accounting®, how do I convert my trial version to the full software?

To activate the full version of Drake Accounting® after a trial, take the following steps within the Drake Accounting® program: 

  1. Go to File > Activate.
  2. Complete the required Firm information setup by entering your EFIN, Drake Account #, e-file Password and all other fields that have a red exclamation point beside them.
  3. Click OK.
  4. A pop-up will display stating that your activation was successful. Click OK

How can I tell if the Trial converted to Full Mode successfully?

You can verify if you are in Trial Mode or Full Mode by going to Help > About and checking the Mode section.
