How can I clear California EF Message 1391?

 

CA EF Message 1391 states:

CA 540

There is a discrepancy in data entry. On Federal screen one the state of residency was entered as "CA", however, data entry has been entered on the CA Nonresident demographic screen.

Drake Software Tip
1. If moving in/out of the state, change the state of residency to "PY" on the Federal screen one.
2. If you are living within another state, change the state of residency to the other state's abbreviation.
3. If you are a California resident, please delete the California Nonresident demographic screen.

To clear this message, 

  • If the taxpayer was a full-year resident of CA, go to the States tab > CA > screen NR > Delete the screen using Ctrl+D.
  • If the taxpayer was a part-year resident of CA, go to federal screen 1 and change the Resident state drop list selection to "PY" for part-year.
  • If the taxpayer was a non-resident of CA, go to federal screen 1 and change the Resident state drop list selection to the state of residency.
