16401: CO - Filing Quarterly Wage and Premium Reports (DAS)

Colorado

Drake Accounting®: How do I create and file the Colorado Quarterly Report of Wages Paid and Premiums Owed (UITR-1)?

For filing to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, DAS produces:

  • A PDF copy of Form UITR-1, Quarterly Report of Wages Paid and Premiums Owed, and UITR-1a, Report of Individual Employee's Wages.
  • A .txt file for e-file.

Note: As of September 24, 2018, Colorado began the process of moving all employers to electronic methods of filing wage reports.

See Related Links below for required setup information before creating the state wage report.

To prepare the UITR-1:

  • Select the Employees or On the Fly menu, then select State Tax & Wage Forms.
  • Make sure CO is selected, then select UITR-1 from the Forms droplist.
  • Select the applicable quarter.
  • Review the form and make any necessary entries or edits.
  • Make sure the e-File checkbox is marked, then select Save/Print.

Save/Print creates a PDF copy of the UITR-1 and UITR-1a.  Although Colorado is moving all employers to electronic methods of filing, they do currently still accept paper-filed forms.  If e-File was marked, a .txt file for upload to MyUI Employer is also created.

To e-file:

  • Log in to MyUI Employer.
  • Follow the menu options to upload the wage file.
  • The file for upload can be found by browsing to the drive where DAS is installed > DrakeAccounting20YY > DAS20YYData (beginning in DAS2021) > Clients > client code > EFile > CO > COUITR1 and selecting the file named COUITR1_YYYY-MM-DD_HR_MIN_SEC.txt (where YYYY-MM-DD_HR_MIN_SEC is the date and time of file creation).
