16408: KY - Reporting Unemployment Insurance Wages (DAS)

Kentucky

Drake Accounting®: How do I create and file the Kentucky UI-3?

For filing to the Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance (OUI), DAS produces:

  • A PDF copy of form UI-3, Employer's Quarterly Unemployment Tax Worksheet, for record-keeping purposes.
  • A .txt file for e-file.

Note: Employers who have ten or more employees must file electronically.

See Related Links below for required setup information before creating the state wage report.

To prepare the UI-3:

  • Select the Employees or On the Fly menu, then select State Tax & Wage Forms.
  • Make sure KY is selected, then select UI-3 from the Forms droplist.
  • Select the applicable quarter.
  • Review the form and make any necessary entries or edits.
  • Make sure the e-File checkbox is marked, then select Save/Print.

Save/Print creates a PDF copy of the form for record-keeping purposes. If e-File was marked, a .txt file for upload to the Kentucky Unemployment Insurance Self-Service Website is also created.

To e-file:

  • Log in to the Kentucky Unemployment Insurance Self-Service Website.
  • Follow the menu options to upload the wage file.
  • The file for upload can be found by browsing to the drive where DAS is installed > DrakeAccounting20YY > DAS20YYData (beginning in DAS21) > Clients > client code > EFile > KY > KYUI3 and selecting the file named KYUI3_YYYY-MM-DD_HR_MIN_SEC.txt (where YYYY-MM-DD_HR_MIN_SEC is the date and time of file creation).
