Drake Accounting®: What are different types of backups listed for each client when I look in the Restore Clients window?
Drake Accounting® will back up data when performing certain functions, such as before performing a bank reconciliation process or when deleting a client file. Below are descriptions of the different backup types that may be seen in the Restore Clients window (Client > Restore).
Automatic |
Drake Accounting® will backup the current client information to the default backup folder at designated times |
Start of Session |
The active client's information will backup when Drake Accounting® launches. Additionally, when switching clients, the newly opened client's information will be backed up. |
End of Session |
The active client's information will backup when exiting Drake Accounting®. Additionally, when switching clients, the client you are closing will be backed up. |
Manual |
The active client's information will backup when pressing the Backup Client button on the Client Selector or Alternative View Desktop. |
Update Prior Year |
When updating from prior Drake Accounting® software, a backup of client information generates before beginning the process. |
Posting |
When posting transactions, a backup is created of the client information before the process starts. |
Bank Reconciliation |
When doing a Bank Reconciliation, a backup is created of the client information before the process starts. |
Year End Close |
When doing a Year End Close, a backup is created of the client information before the process starts. |
Restore Point |
Refers to the last restoration of a backup. |
User Deleted |
This backup refers to the client information saved when the end-user deleted the client. |
Portals |
A backup created when syncing to the Portal. |
Unknown |
A backup that is un-grouped and does not fit into other backup categories |
