16500: VA - EF Message 0410 - Use Tax

EF Message 0410:

Consumer's Use Tax interview of taxpayer required: Did you purchase merchandise by Internet, telephone, or mail, or did you purchase any merchandise outside Virginia and pay no sales tax?  If so, you may be required to pay Consumer's Use Tax.  Please go to VA screen USE and enter any applicable purchases in the appropriate fields.  If you have determined that the taxpayer owes no use tax, you must go to VA screen USE and enter zeroes in the Taxable Purchases fields.

Go to the States tab > VA > General > USE (Sales and Use Tax Worksheet).

An amount must be entered for Taxable purchases for the taxpayer (and spouse if MFJ). If there were no taxable purchases, enter 0 (zero).

​Note: The taxpayer column is located to the right of the spouse column. If the return is not MFJ, verify that your entries are in the correct column.
