Hawaii Update 7

  • Corporation and S Corporation Packages:
    • An issue with the Calculation Results window has been resolved regarding the display of EF status on the EF Return Selector (EF > Select Returns for EF).
  • Fiduciary Package:
    • Line 14, Part II, of HI Schedule D now displays the correct capital net gain or loss that flows to line 16, Part III.
  • Individual Package:
    • An update allows an ampersand ("&") in the "Name" field of HI screen RENT, resolving a parse error on the element 'OwnerPersonName' on Schedule X.
    • To prevent a parse error on 'SSN', an EF message will be produced when an ID number has been entered on HI screen DEMO with no third-party designee information on federal PREP screen, or if an invalid ID is entered in the "Third-Party Designee" field of HI screen DEMO.

Illinois Update 11

  • Individual Package:
    • EF Message 1201 or 1202 is generated when invalid characters are entered in the "Step 2: Identify your partner or shareholder" name or address or foreign address fields on IL screen K1P. This prevent parse error element "'Steps1And2'.
    • EF Message 0112 prevent parse error 'PhoneNum' when Form 1099-R, relevant to IL, has nonnumeric characters entered for the phone number.
    • EF Message 1401 prevents business rule reject ILM-2900-1 when an amount is entered on line 22 of IL Schedule M and no federal Schedule B is included in the return,. This return will have to be paper-filed.
    • When the federal return is a 1040NR, IL EF Message 1402 prevents Form IL-1040 from being e-filed when there is an amount on line 5, "Social Security benefits and certain retirement plan income," of the IL-1040. This IL-1040 return will have to be paper-filed.
    • When the federal return is a 1040NR, IL EF Message 1403 prevents Form IL-1040 from being e-filed when there is an amount on Step 8, line 28, "Earned Income Credit," of the IL-1040. This IL-1040 return will have to be paper-filed.
    • This update prevents IL 1040 rejects IL1040-1100-1 and IL1040-5500-2.
    • Calculation for IL Schedule NR, Nonresident and Part-Year Resident Computation of Illinois Tax, Step 3, line 31. "IRA deduction," has been corrected. Prior to this update, the calculation for "wages, salaries, tips, alimony, earned income received from all sources" on the IL IRA Deduction worksheet did not include alimony.
    • EF Message 0702 prevents e-file when the two-digit month is missing from column C of screen IL 99C2.
    • EF Message 0701 prevents e-file when the four-digit year is missing from column C of IL screen 99C2.
    • This update prevents the parse error element "'ILTaxYearCreditEarned' element is invalid."
  • Business Packages:
    • The Illinois extension vouchers now display the correct due date when the federal extension has already been e-filed and accepted and the taxpayer will paper-file the extension payment.
  • Corporation Package:
    • EF Messages 402 and 403 are generated if there is an amount on line 22 or line 24 override fields on IL screen PEN, preventing IL2220 rejects IL2220-800-3 and IL2220-7700-2.
  • S Corporation Package:
    • EF Message 0308 prevents e-file when Step 6, line 45, "Business Income," of Form IL-1120-ST other than "0" (zero), and no corresponding IL Schedule K-1-T or IL Schedule K-1-P was received, preventing reject IL1120ST-8700-1.
  • All Packages:
    • EF Message 0700 now prevents e-file when an invalid entry is made in column D, "Identifying number," of one of the following IL screens:
      • 99A2 (1165 or 1120S package) 
      • 99C2 (1040 package) 
      • 99D (1120 or 1041 package) 
      • Valid characters are letters (A-Z), numerals (0-9), colons, periods, and hyphens. No spaces are allowed. This prevents the parse error "'IdentifyingNumber' element is invalid." 

Louisiana Update 14

  • Fiduciary Package:
    • Prior year overpayment applied entered on federal screen ES will now flow to line 22 of LA Form 541, Fiduciary Income Tax Return. 
    • The preparer's complete phone number will now be displayed on page 3 of LA Form 541, Fiduciary Income Tax Return.
  • Partnership Package:
    • The format of the dates in columns 2 and 3 of Schedule I on page 4 of Form IT-565, Partnership Return of Income, has been updated.
    • The following parse errors have been corrected: 'DateAcquired,' 'DateAcquiredOrVarious,' and 'SchITable.'
    • EF message 0136 will now be generated when a partner is entered with nonnumeric Social Security Number or Federal Employer Identification Number, preventing parse errors on element 'PartnerID.' 
    • Schedule B column 2 will now be populated when the partners entity type is "Est. Deceased Partner" on line I1 of federal Schedule K1. This will prevent parse errors on element 'SchBTable'. 

Maryland Update 9

  • Individual Package:
    • Totals greater than $10,000 will no longer flow to line 26c of Form 505, Nonresident Income Tax Return, preventing MD reject Form505-5890-010. 
    • Totals greater than $10,000 will no longer flow to line 17b of Form 502, Individual Income Tax Return, preventing MD reject Form502-01470-01.
    • Taxpayers turning 65 on January 1, 2020, will no longer be considered 65 by the MD program. Prior to this update, MD taxpayers who turned 65 on January 1, 2020, were considered 65 years old for 2019 income tax purposes, which is the federal standard. Maryland does not consider these individuals as being 65 years old for 2019 income tax purposes.
    • An extra payment voucher will no longer be displayed in the client results letter in View/Print mode. 
    • When an entry is made in the "Public Safety Officers Insurance Premium" field on the "Special Treatments" tab of federal screen 1099, the reduced amount now flows to line "r" of Form MD 502SU, Subtractions from Income.
  • S Corporation and Partnership Packages
    • The correct ES amount, rather than "$0.00," will now be displayed in the debit amount section of the MD filing instructions (MD INST) of the payment vouchers. 
  • Multiple Packages:
    • The correct due dates will now be printed in the client results letter. Prior to this update, in some cases, incorrect due dates were being printed.
    • EF Message 0049 prevents e-file when an invalid Taxpayer Identification Number is entered in the "PTE FEIN" field of MD screen MDK1, preventing MD reject 510-02500-011. 

Mississippi Update 11

  • Individual Package:
    • When an amount is generated for line C, page 2, of Form 80-108, Adjustments and Contributions, that amount will now flow to line 41 of Form 80-205, Nonresident Income Tax Return. Prior to this update, the amount from line C, page 2, of the 80-108 was not flowing to line 41 of the 80-205.

Montana Update 22

  • Individual Package:
    • An update to Form 2, page 6, "Taxable Social Security Benefits" worksheet, prevents the following parse error for a negative integer (-1) on line 9 when line 8 is greater than line 6,: "The element "Primary" is invalid .
    • When the filing status is "2a, Married filing separately" on the same Form 2, Individual Income Tax Return, and both the taxpayer and spouse have Montana Medical Savings Account (MSA) Schedules (page 3 of Form 2), if the taxpayer has a "0" balance in line 5, "Ending balance," "0" will flow to the line on the form, preventing the parse error element 'EndingBalance'.
    • EF Message 0087 is generated when amounts are missing from the "Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit Schedule" (page 10 of Form 2, Individual Income Tax Return), from both line 15, property tax billed, and line 16, rent paid, preventing MT EF reject Form2-E126, "Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit Schedule, Line 15 plus Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit Schedule Line 16 must be greater than 0."

New Mexico Update 17

  • Individual Package:
    • The NM return can now be e-filed when "Do not send federal" is selected on the federal EF screen and "Enable e-file with no federal income (override)" is selected on NM screen 1. 
  • S Corporation Package:
    • Marking the "A Hundred Percent Apportionment to New Mexico (All New Mexico Business Activity)" on NM screen A automatically generates 100% apportionment and autofills the "S-Corp-A New Mexico Apportionment Factors" on page 2 of Form S-Corp, New Mexico Sub-Chapter S Corporate Income and Franchise Tax Return. 
  • Partnership Package:
    • Marking the "A Hundred Percent Apportionment to New Mexico (All New Mexico Business Activity)" on NM screen A automatically generates 100% apportionment and autofills the "PTE-A New Mexico Apportionment Factors" on page 2 of Form PTE, New Mexico Information Return for Pass-Through Entities.

Rhode Island Update 11

  • Multiple Packages:
    • Filing instructions have been updated to display "paper-file" status for RI extension filers. 
  • Fiduciary Package:
    • An update prevents reject DRKPARSE with the element 'ResRIEstTrustAllocationTbl.'

Virginia Update 9

  • Individual Package:
    • New fields for question 6 from page 2 of Form 763S, Special Nonresident Claim for Individual Income Tax Withheld, have been added to the "Military Spouse Qualification" screen (available through a link on VA screen 1) to allow taxpayers to indicate if they filed a state tax return in the prior year and if the other state has an income tax.
    • If "FOREIGN" is entered as a description of an amount in the "Other" taxes paid field on line 6 of screen A, those taxes will be subtracted from itemized deductions, per VA instructions for line 18 of VA Schedule A.
  • All Packages:
    • VA filing instructions will be printed as intended when the setup option to "Suppress printing of taxpayer's signature dates" has been selected at Setup > Options > States > VA.
  • Fiduciary Package:
    • Business Rule reject 770-275 has been resolved for returns with VA taxable income resulting in a negative value.
