16674: Stimulus Money - SSA Recipients

IRS Info/Alerts

If a taxpayer receives social security benefits and is otherwise not required to file a return, how can they get their stimulus payment?

The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS announced on April 1, 2020, that "Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an Economic Impact Payment. Instead, payments will be automatically deposited into their bank accounts." See the full press release for details.
