Federal Update 10

  • Individual Package:
    • Two Forms 8821, one for the taxpayer and one for the spouse, will now be produced as intended when code "J" is selected from the "TSJ" drop list on federal screen 8821.

1041 Update 14

  • EF Message 3060 will no longer be generated when the amount on line 15, "Total cash wages subject to FUTA tax," of Schedule H (Form 1040) exceeds $7,000.
  • Form 8835 is now available, and the watermark has been removed.

1040 Update 22

  • EF Message 5060 will now be generated when there is an invalid (or missing, if applicable) entry for "Divorce date" on federal screen 3. [DivorceOrSeparationAgreementDt]
  • An update prevents parse errors associated with Form 2441 when income is less than zero. [SpouseEarnedIncomeAmt]
  • EF Message 5272 will now be generated when no "Year of birth" has been entered on screen 8839, preventing the following reject: "For each child who is born before 2002 per the 'ChildBirthYr' on Form 8839, the corresponding checkbox 'DisabledChildOver18Ind' must be checked." 
  • EF Message 2565 will no longer be generated when an EIN is entered on federal screen 8949.
  • EF Message 4998 is now generated to prevent e-file of Form 9465 when "Not e-Filing Form 9465" has been selected on federal screen 9465. 
  • EF Message 0024 prevents a parse error when an invalid entry is made in the "Exception number" field in Part 1 on federal screen 5329. [EarlyDistriExceptionReasonCd]
  • The Federal (F) code box on federal screens W2, W2G, DIV, 99M, K1P, K1F, K1S, 1042, & 8959 will now function as expected. Prior to this update, if the (F) code box contained a zero, the federal withholdings continued to appear on the Federal Withholdings statement. This update does not affect the result of any tax return.
  • EF Message 6078 will now be generated when an invalid ZIP code has been entered on federal screen 8863. [ZIPCd]
  • EF Message 3060 will no longer be generated when the amount on line 15, "Total cash wages subject to FUTA tax," of Schedule H (Form 1040) exceeds $7,000.
  • AZ code "ASSIST_HOH" has been added to the list of valid "State codes" on federal screen 2.
  • Form 8835 is now available, and the watermark has been removed.

Kansas Update 5

  • Individual Package:
    • KS EF message 0098 has been removed for KS online filers.
  • Partnership and S Corporation Packages:
    • KS EF Message 0110 will no longer be generated with returns for entities with no principal place of business in Kansas.

Massachusetts Update 5

  • Individual Package:
    • MA Return Note 39, regarding dependent care expenses, was updated to remove references to prior tax years.
  • Corporation and S Corporation Packages:
    • EF Message 0122 now prevents net operating loss (NOL) from more than 10 prior years from being reported on Schedule NOL.
  • S Corporation Package:
    • Section 179 Expense deduction now flows to line 20 of MA Schedule M-1, Federal Income Reconciliation.

Mississippi Update 5

  • Corporation, S Corporation, and Partnership Packages:
    • An update resolves reject DRKPARSE for element "MSSecOfStateID". 
    • The following rejects have been resolved: 
      • 0009, "The Preparer's Phone Number was not transmitted"
      • 0010, "The Preparer's Address was not transmitted"
      • 0011, "Required Paid Preparer PTIN or SSN Not Transmitted (If Not Paid Preparer, Enter "Self Prepared", Select "Preparer SSN" and Enter 999999" 
      • 0012, "The Preparer Firm Name was not transmitted and the Return was not marked as 'Self Prepared'"

1065 Update 12

  • The boxes for line 21, "More than one activity for at-risk purposes," and line 22, "More than one activity for passive activity purposes," of Schedule K-1  of Form 1065, and line 18 ,"More than one activity for at-risk purposes," and line 19, "More than one activity for passive activity purposes," on Schedule K-1 of Form 1120-S, can now be selected from screen BAS. When a partnership or S corporation has more than one activity for at-risk or passive activity purposes, you must select the appropriate box on the BAS screen and prepare the required statements of income, expenses, and other items for each activity of the entity. Complete the required information statements of multiple activities using the BAS screen. Press "Page Down" while in a BAS screen and complete a separate screen for each activity to be reported.
  • Form 8835 is now available, and the watermark has been removed. 

Ohio Update 11

  • Individual Package:
    • An update helps prevent OH reject X0000-005, OH-PIT-085,
    • Ohio EF Message 0204 will no longer be produced when not applicable. Prior to this update, if OH Modified Adjusted Gross Income was a negative number, EF Message 0204 was generated unnecessarily.
    • The text of line 20 of Columbus screen IRD now matches the current-year version of the form.
    • Ohio generic city returns can now be suppressed using a new check box on OH screen GEN, located on the "Generic Cities" tab.
    • The program no longer automatically produces OH generic city returns if there is a tax due or refund of $10 dollars or less because it is not necessary to file such returns.
    • The program no longer automatically produces a generic OH return for the cities of Columbus and Toledo.
    • Income from federal Schedule E now flows to OH generic city returns when "T" is selected from the "TSJ" drop list on OH screen GEN. Prior to this update if "T" was selected, no income would flow to the form.
    • A check box was added to OH screen GEN to keep income from federal screen K1S from being included on the Ohio generic city tax return. S corporation income is not taxable in some OH cities. 
    • Spouse information now flows to the RITA Individual Declaration of Exemption certificate when "S" is selected in the "TSJ" drop list on OH screen RITAEX.
    • Ohio generic city forms for Springboro and Sharonville can no longer be e-filed. Springboro and Sharonville are no longer accepting e-filed returns. Preparers must paper-file their returns. 
  • Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • Ohio EF Message 0087 for Form 27 will no longer be generated when it does not apply.

General Update 22

  • The Transmit/Receive dialog box will now remain open after completion of the EF transmission process.

1120 Update 13

  • Form 1139 has been updated to reflect changes in the Form 1139 instructions.
  • Form 8835 is now available, and the watermark has been removed.

1120S Update 12

  • The title line, "Schedule L - Line 20 - Mortgages/Notes/Bonds Payable 1 year or more," of the Federal Supporting Statement, will now be generated, as expected.
  • The code "AC - Gross receipts for section 448(c)" has been added to the list of Schedule K-1 codes.
  • Form 8835 is now available, and the watermark has been removed.
  • The boxes for line 21, "More than one activity for at-risk purposes," and line 22, "More than one activity for passive activity purposes," of Schedule K-1  of Form 1065, and line 18 ,"More than one activity for at-risk purposes," and line 19, "More than one activity for passive activity purposes," on Schedule K-1 of Form 1120-S, can now be selected from screen BAS. When a partnership or S corporation has more than one activity for at-risk or passive activity purposes, you must select the appropriate box on the BAS screen and prepare the required statements of income, expenses, and other items for each activity of the entity. Complete the required information statements of multiple activities using the BAS screen. Press "Page Down" while in a BAS screen and complete a separate screen for each activity to be reported.
  • The Business Activity Statement (Wks BAS) has been updated for S corporation returns.
