Arkansas Update 9

  • Fiduciary Package:
    • Unneeded Return Notes regarding "low tax eligible filing status" will no longer appear on the Calculation Results window.

  • Individual Package:

Federal Program Update 12

  • General program update.

California Update 14

  • Individual Package:
    • The California RDP Adjustments worksheet has been approved and activated for printing.
    • A program update prevents reject "SCHCANR-068" when CA part-year and nonresident residents have the Student Loan Interest Deduction worksheet present in the return.
    • EF Message 0166 has been updated, as Form 3805P, Additional Taxes on Qualified Plans (Including IRAs) and Other Tax-Favored Accounts, is now available for e-filing.
    • As per the latest business rules published by the state, EF Message 1206 is no longer generated for CA part-year and nonresident returns that have "Dependent of another" marked on federal screen 1.
  • Individual and Fiduciary Packages:
    • EF Message 0166 has been updated, as Form 3805V, Net Operating Loss (NOL) Computation and NOL and Disaster Loss Limitations
    • Individuals, Estates, and Trusts, is now available for e-filing.

Colorado Update 7

  • Partnership and S Corporation Packages:
    • An issue that was blocking the e-signature function for Form DR 8453-P, Partnership/S-Corp Income Tax Declaration for Electronic Filing, has been corrected.

Connecticut Update 5

  • Individual Package:
    • The Connecticut section of the client result letter will now read that the CT return has been e-filed and accepted when accepted by the CT DoR.
    • CT EF Message 0067 will now be generated to prevent CT e-file when federal Form 1310, Statement of Person Claiming Refund Due a Deceased Taxpayer, is present in the return. CT returns with federal Form 1310 must now be paper-filed.
    • CT has discontinued Form CT-CHET, Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) 529 College Savings Plan Contribution, for the 2020 tax year; as such, Form CT-CHET will no longer be generated in Drake Tax 2020.
  • Corporation Package:
    • CT corporation returns have been approved for e-file.
    • Line 15, "Form CT-1120 RDC," column G, "Carryforward amount to 2021," for Form CT-1120K, Business Tax Credit Summary, will now be calculated as intended.
  • Fiduciary Package:
    • Schedule CT-1041WH, CT Income Tax Withholding, has been updated to pull withholding amounts from Schedule CT-1041 K-1, Beneficiary's Share of Certain Connecticut Items, as intended.
  • Estate and Gift Packages:
    • Tax tables for Form CT-706/709, Estate and Gift Tax Return, have been updated for tax year 2020.
  • Individual, Corporation, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • Watermarks have been added to returns that include any of the following forms:
    • CT-2210, Underpayment of Estimated Tax by Individuals, Trusts, and Estates
    • Schedule A (CT-2210), Annualized Income Installment Schedule
    • Schedule B (CT-2210), Interest Calculation
    • CT-1120 RDC, Research and Development Expenditures Tax Credit

District of Columbia 10

  • Individual Package:
    • FAQ item S, "DC Requests Driver's License to Combat Identity Theft," now provides additional information for a DC Office of Tax and Revenue request: "The District of Columbia is requesting additional information in an effort to combat stolen identity tax fraud and ensure that the taxpayer's hard-earned tax refund goes directly to the taxpayer. Industry partners are being asked to display this sentence to the taxpayer/preparer: Please provide the requested information from your driver's license or District of Columbia-issued identification card. Your return will not be rejected if you do not have a driver's license or District of Columbia-issued identification and providing the information could help process the return quicker."
  • Partnership Package:
    • An update prevents the following parse error: "The 'Total' element is invalid - The value '-50' is invalid according to its datatype 'DCUSAmountNNType' - Value '-50' was either too large or too small for NonNegativeInteger."
  • Corporation, Partnership, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • General programming changes correct the amounts displayed in the client results letter for DC Estimated payments when Op Code A,
      "Applies overpayment to vouchers in order until used up," is selected in drop list on screen ES.

1041 Update 16

  • Form 3468 is now available, and the watermark has been removed.

Georgia Update 5

  • Partnership Package
    • Form 700, Partnership Tax Return, has been approved for e-file.
    • The "Participating in composite return" check box will now be marked on Form GAK-1, Partner's Share of Georgia Income, when the taxpayer is included in the composite return.

1040 Update 24

  • An EF Message prevents a parse error related to a negative value for an expense on Form 2441. [QualifiedCareExpensesPaidAmt]
  • An update prevents an e-file reject where, in certain situations, Form 5329 was generated for one spouse but not the other on Married Filing Jointly returns. [S2-F1040-123]
  • A program update prevents a parse error when “014 – IRA rollover to a qualified plan or rollover in current year” is selected from the “Type of attachment” drop list on federal screen SCH but no IRA entries are present in the return. [referenceDocumentId]
  • Form 3468 is now available, and the watermark has been removed.
  • The Clergy worksheets are now available, and the watermark has been removed. These are the prior-year versions of the worksheets, as IRS has not released the 2020 version.
  • A program update prevents parse errors relating to Schedule SE: [PortionCombinedSEAmt] [PrtnCombSEAndChurchWagesAmt] [SETaxPaymentsMaxDeferredAmt]
  • A program update prevents parse errors associated with invalid data entered for the EIN on federal screen 8990. [ForeignEntityReferenceIdNum]

Iowa Update 12

  • Individual Package:
    • Iowa EF Message 0003 will be generated when an entry is made on line 72, "Penalty and interest," of IA screen 2 and no IA screen PEN, "Underpayment Penalty" has been completed.
    • A "0" (zero) will be generated for line 5b of Form IA 2210F, Underpayment of Estimated Tax by Farmers and Fishers, if left blank in data entry, preventing the parse error "FORMIA2210 has invalid child element 'Penalty'....",
    • Form IA126 will always be generated for part-year and nonresident returns.
    • Rounding issues for line 13a of Form IA 2210F, Underpayment of Estimated Tax by Farmers and Fishers, has been corrected.
  • Individual , S Corporation, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • IA AMD EF Message 0099 will be generated when the answer to the question, â€oeDid you receive an amended Iowa Schedule K-1?†on IA screen 102, "Iowa Amended Return Schedule," is "Yes." To clear the message, complete the "Name of Pass-through Entity," "Address," "City," "State" and "Zip" fields on screen 102.

Idaho Update 9

  • All Packages:
    • An update for the '"Suppress EF" check box will no longer produce Form 75 paper-filing instructions.

Louisiana Update 7

  • Corporation Package
    • LA Form CIFT-620-2D, Corporation Income Tax Return, has been approved and can now be printed.

Massachusetts Update 6

  • Individual Package:
    • EF Message 0347 now prevents MA reject FNRPY-1520: "The income tax due to another state or jurisdiction amount is incorrect based on the Schedule OJC."
    • MA Schedule D, nonresident adjustments have been removed from the reporting of MA-sourced income for Other State Credit purposes.
  • Partnership Package:
    • Income adjustment lines (lines 19, 22, and 25) on MA Partnership Return of Income, Form 3, page 2 will no longer be automatically completed unless there is information on the corresponding income lines (18, 21, and 24).
    • Return Note 009 now indicates the correct line number for MA Schedule 3K-1.
    • Print alignment issues on pages 1 and 2 of MA Schedule 3K-1 for Form NRCR, Nonresident Composite Returns, have been corrected.

Maryland Update 9

  • Individual Package:
    • An update prevents reject FinTran-98190-020: "For returns filed prior to the due date, the ACH settlement date cannot exceed the return due date."
    • An update prevents reject FinTran-98300-020:"When Refund Direct Deposit on Financial Transaction is present, Authorization to Direct Deposit checkbox must be checked."
  • S Corporation and Partnership Packages:
    • An update prevents reject FORM510-02207-010: "Line 6c - Total distributive pro rata share of income for Individual members. Must be equal total of lines 6a and 6b."
    • Local income tax will no longer be calculated if the distributed income amount is "0" (zero) or a loss.
    • The third-party designee indicator will now be marked on page 3, "Signature and Verification" section, of Form 510, Pass-Through Entity Income Tax Return, as expected.

Maine Update 11

  • Individual Package:
    • The preparer's name will no longer be printed on page 3 of Form 1040ME, when a "Third party designee" is selected at Setup > Options > Optional Items on Return.
    • When the filing status is HOH, line 13a of ME Schedule PTFC, Property Tax Fairness Credit/ Sales Tax Fairness Credit, will now be used to determine the eligible amount.

Missouri Update 16

  • Individual Package:
    • Kansas City taxes paid will be available for the KS Credit for Tax Paid computation for a fully withheld RD-109 return.
    • An update prevents the parse error, "element 'Return State' has incomplete content."
    • Line 8, "Percentage of your income taxed," of Form MO-CR, Credit for Income Tax Paid to Other States, will be rounded up to the nearest whole percentage, unless the value is less than .5%.
  • All Packages: Kansas City -
    • The mailing address for Form RD-108, Profits Return Earnings Tax, will appear on the client result letter, as expected.
  • Corporation, Individual, Partnership, and S Corporation Packages: St. Louis -
    • Form E-234, City of St. Louis Earnings Tax Return, is available for printing.

Montana Update 9

  • Individual Package:
    • If an MT filing status of 2a, "Married filing separately on same form," is ideal for the MT return, "2a" will no longer have to be forced on MT screen 1 when a return meets the following conditions:
      • The federal filing status is Married Filing Jointly
      • The taxpayer has an amount due
      • The spouse has an overpayment
    • When a 2021 "Estimate amt" for MT is entered on the State and City section of federal screen ES, the expected values will now flow to the MT portion of the Summary of Estimate (ES Summary) worksheet.
    • When a TSJ code of "J" has been selected on federal screen LOSS, the intended amount will now flow to line 9, "Federal net operating loss deduction," on the Montana Additions Schedule, located on page 4 of Form 2, Montana Individual Income Tax Return.
    • When a net operating loss is present in the return, line 5c, "Real estate taxes paid," on the Itemized Deductions Schedule (page 7) of Form 2, Montana Individual Income Tax Return, will now function as expected, helping prevent reject "2-E048."
  • Corporation Package:
    • MT EF Message 1150, regarding line 17, "Taxes and licenses," of federal Form 1120, has been updated.
  • S Corporation and Partnership Packages:
    • EF Message 0113 will now be generated when an adjustment is entered on the Montana Adjustment Worksheet screen (Adjustment Detail Statement link, accessible from MT screen 1) but no adjustment code has been selected from the drop list.

1065 Update 15

  • Form 3468 is now available and the watermark has been removed.
  • An EF Message prevents rejects associated with an incorrect EFIN Type entered in Setup > Firm(s). (R0000-118-01)
  • A program update prevents parse errors associated with invalid data entered for the EIN on screen 8990. (ForeignEntityReferenceIdNum)

North Carolina Update 7

  • Individual Package 
    • EF Message 0112 has resolved EF reject NCD400-2800 on Form D-400, Schedule PN, Part-Year Resident and Nonresident Schedule.
    • A parse error on element 'FormNCD400AmendedSchedule' has been resolved on Form D-400, Sch AM, Amended Schedule.

North Dakota Update 5

  • Individual Package:
    • EF Message 0069 will now be generated when the total amount of credit claimed on Schedule RZ, Renaissance Zone Income Exemption and Tax Credits, does not match the amount on line 2, "Renaissance zone tax credit," of Schedule ND-1TC, Tax Credits.
    • Apostrophes (') are no longer valid characters in the "Income Source Code" drop list on ND screen ND1, preventing a parse error for element "FormND1." Invalid characters will generate EF Message 0020.
    • The "Name," "Address," "City," "State," and "Zip," fields are now required for an active ND EF1 screen. EF Message 0064 will now be generated if the required fields are not complete, preventing a parse error for element "Address."
    • EF Message 0021 will now be generated if obsolete school district codes "09080" or "46010" are carried forward to federal screen 1 from a 2019 return.
  • Fiduciary Package:
    • The appropriate residency status will now be selected for item G on Schedule K-1 (Form 38), Beneficiary's Share of North Dakota Income (Loss), Deductions, Adjustments, Credits, and Other Items, preventing a parse error for element "SchNDK1."

New York Update 11

  • Individual Package:
    • Line 12a, "If your NYAGI is less than $250,000...," of Form IT-249, Claim for Long-Term Care Insurance Credit, will now use the following lines in its calculation:
      • Line 33, "New York adjusted gross income," of Form IT-201, Resident Income Tax Return
      • Line 32, "Enter the amount from line 31," of Form IT-203, Nonresident and Part-Year Resident Income Tax Return
  • Partnership Package:
    • e-File has been approved for Form IT-204, New York State Partnership Return; as such, EF Message 2005 will no longer be generated to prevent e-filing.
    • The following forms have been added to the NYS partnership package:
      • IT-636, Alcohol Beverage Production Credit
      • IT-638, Start-Up NY Tax Elimination Credit
      • NY screens 636, "Alcoholic Beverage Production Credit," and 638, "Start-Up NY Tax Elimination Credit," have been added to the program.
  • S Corporation Package:
    • When NY screen 110 is active and Form CT-3, General Business Corporation Franchise Tax Return, is included in the return, the NYC return will no longer be generated if no other NYC data has been entered.
  • Individual, Partnership, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • The company's EIN, type, and credit amounts will now be generated in the correct corresponding columns on the attachment for Form IT-212, Part 1 - Flow-through Credits and Addbacks (NY212_1B), when Form IT-212, Investment Credit, is present in the return.

Ohio Update 13

  • Individual Package:
    • The program now uses adjustments from federal Schedule 1, Additional Income and Adjustments to Income, when calculating the School District earned income tax base.
    • An update prevents reject OH-SD100-046 and DRK-DUPE for the School District Return.
    • The OH "E-file Acknowledgment" page will now be printed when an OH Form IT 1040 and a SD 100 return are filed together.
    • An update prevents reject RITA F37-CONF-100.
    • An update prevents reject Generic City R14.1.
    • An update stops e-file of Ohio Generic City returns for Hamilton; the city is no longer accepting e-filed returns.
    • An update prevents reject DRKPARSE for elements "TotalEstimatedIncomeSubjectToTax", "BusinessNameLine1", and "TaxWithheldLocalityName".
  • Partnership and S Corporation Packages:
    • An update prevents reject DRKPARSE for element 'StateAbbreviation'.
  • All Packages:
    • The credit factor for the city of West Liberty was updated to match the current-year value.

General Program Update 24

  • The “Where is my refund?” link, used by preparers to find the status of taxpayer refunds, has been added back to the EF Database screen. (From the Home window of Drake Tax, go to EF > Search EF Database.)

Pennsylvania Update 11

  • Individual Package:
    • Line 6 of Form PA-1000, Property Tax or rent Rebate Credit, will no longer include amounts of pensions that have been rolled over.
    • EF Message 875 will no longer be be produced with PA Schedule OC, Other Credits, when amounts are included in lines 6, 8, or 9 of Schedule OC.
    • The correct amount of interest and dividends, including the amount of capital gains distributions, will now be totaled and flow to line 7 of Form PA 1000, Property Tax or Rent Rebate Claim.
    • PA Return Note 235 Text has been updated to match the text on PA screen PRNT for the check box "PA 40 Line 1 (Gross Compensation)," clarifying how to use the check box
    • Additional text has been added to PA FAQ item K, "Reciprocal State Agreements," to further clarify when the Credit for Other States can be taken. A link to KB article 16741 has been added to PA screen GL that assists the preparer with completing PA Schedule GL, Credit for Taxes Paid by PA Residents to Other States, along with a link to a list of reciprocal states.

1120 Update 15

  • Form 3468 is now available, and the watermark has been removed.
  • Form 1139, Corporation Application for Tentative Refund, is now available and will produce as expected.
  • An EF Message prevents rejects associated with an incorrect EFIN Type entered in Setup > Firm(s). (R0000-118-01)
  • A program update prevents parse errors associated with invalid data entered for the EIN on federal screen 8990. (ForeignEntityReferenceIdNum)

1120S Update 15

  • Form 3468 is now available and the watermark has been removed.
  • An EF Message prevents rejects associated with an incorrect EFIN Type entered in Setup > Firm(s). (R0000-118-01)
  • A program update prevents parse errors associated with invalid data entered for the EIN on screen 8990. (ForeignEntityReferenceIdNum)
  • EF Message 0501 will no longer prevent e-file of Form 1120-S extensions.

General State Programming Update 13

  • Individual Package:
    • EF Message 9148 has been updated to reference the latest version of federal screen 1099 regarding state codes.
    • EF Message 9030 will no longer be generated when a dash is entered in the "First name" field on federal screen 1 and "3 - Married Filing Separately" is selected for the "Filing Status."
    • EF Message 9247 has been updated for clarity.
    • A program update prevents parse errors associated with alphabetic characters or a zero ("0") being entered for the "Taxpayer foreign phone number" field on federal screen MISC. [InitialCreation or Submission]
  • Ohio: Individual Package:
    • The OH locality list has been updated for line 20, "Locality," on federal screen W2.

990 Program Update 14

  • An EF Message prevents rejects associated with an incorrect EFIN Type entered in Setup > Firm(s). (R0000-118-01)

Wisconsin Update 9

  • Individual Package:
    • EF Message 173, regarding depreciation adjustments on WI Schedule H, Homestead Credit, has been updated.
    • The decedent's first and last name fields on Form 804, Claim for Decedent's Wisconsin Income Tax Refund, are no longer reversed.
    • Schedule WD, Capital Gains and Losses, is now generated as intended when only capital gain distributions are entered on WI screen WD and no other Schedule D transactions are present in the return.
    • Line 14, "Enter 25% of the amount on line 13g," of Schedule HR, Wisconsin Historic Rehabilitation Credits, will now allow up to $20,000 as intended when there are two or more qualified projects.
    • A parse error on the element "SpouseDiedDuringYear," where the year entered is not a valid date, has been resolved.
    • Line 27, "Student loan interest deduction," in column B of Form 1NPR, Nonresident & Part-Year Resident Wisconsin Income Tax, will now include only the WI portion of student loan interest.
    • Overpayment overrides applied to 2021 estimated tax on line 39/73 of WI screen 1B will now flow to Form 1, Wisconsin Income Tax, as intended.
    • Line 1, "Amount you paid in 2020 for medical care while you were self-employed," of the Wisconsin Medical Care Insurance Worksheet (WIWK_INS) will now be calculated only if the amount is greater than zero ("0").
    • The check box "Form 804 filed with return" of Form 1, Wisconsin Income Tax, will now be marked automatically if Form 804, Claim for Decedent's Wisconsin Income Tax Refund, is present in the return.
    • An EF Message has been added to prevent reject "F1-974" when the claimant is younger than 62, is not disabled, and does not have earned income.
    • Amounts on line 46, "Other subtractions from income," of Schedule SB, Form 1 - Subtractions from Income, will no longer be doubled on line 47, "Add lines 30 through 46c."
  • Partnership Package:
    • A parse error on the element "DesigneePhone," where "X" is entered for the phone number type, has been resolved.
