Alaska Update 4

  • Corporation, S Corporation, and Partnership Packages:
    • Form 6324, Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Storage Facility Tax Credit, has been approved and is now available for printing.

Alabama Update 14

  • Individual Package
    • Disallowed wash sales entered on line 1g of federal screen 8949 will now flow to AL Schedule D, Profit from Sale of Real Estate, Stocks, Bonds, etc., as intended.
    • The Rural Physician Credit will now default to $5,000 on Married Filing Jointly returns unless the check box "MFJ return and both spouses qualify" is marked on AL screen PTD. If selected, the credit will default to $10,000 and be claimed on Schedule OC, Other Available Credits.
    • Section C (page 5) of Schedule OC, Other Available Credits, has been updated to reflect the intended carryover amounts in column 6 for the following credits:
      • Alabama Accountability Tax Credit (part L)
      • Career Technical Dual Enrollment Credit (part O)
      • Growing Alabama Credit (part R)

Arkansas Update 16

  • Individual Package:
    • The due date for Form AR1000V, Individual Income Tax Return Payment Voucher, has been updated for farmer returns.
    • An update resolves reject "IIT2020-0016"; the state filing status will now match the federal filing status, as intended.
    • The text of the check box "Do NOT Carry P & I to 1000V, filing instructions and client letter" has been changed to "Carry P & I to 1000V, filing instructions and client letter" to accurately reflect the check box's functionality. The help field for this check box has been updated to include the updated text reference and clarify that the amounts will indeed carry to the locations specified. 
  • Partnership Package:
    • EF Message 2027 will now be generated when no last name has been entered on the federal PIN screen, preventing reject "AR-AR1050" on element "PersonName."

Arizona Update 23

  • S Corporation, Partnership, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • When an ID number of "APPLD FOR" or "FOREIGNUS" is entered on a federal K1 screen, and the return is for a partnership, Schedule K-1NR will now be generated, preventing reject "DRKPARSE" on element "PrtnrIdNum."
    • When an ID number of "APPLD FOR" or "FOREIGNUS" is entered on a federal K1 screen, and the return is either for an S corporation or fiduciary return, an EF Message will now be generated. The AZ DoR requires that returns without a valid ID number for a  shareholder or beneficiary be paper-filed.
  • Individual Package:
    • Exemptions claimed on Form AZ 140, Individual Income Tax Return, for taxpayers who are blind, over 65, or a qualifying parent or grandparent will now flow, as intended, to line 10 on page 2 of Form 221, Underpayment of Estimated Tax by Individuals.
    • EF Message 0072 has been added to the program and will now be generated when a negative net long-term capital gain amount is entered on AZ screen CGWK, preventing reject "DRKPARSE" on element "LongTrmCapGainAsstAcq."
  • Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, and Tax-Exempt Packages:
    • Line 59a, "Current year's tax liability," of Form 308, Credit for Increased Research Activities, will now show an amount of "0" (zero) if an amount is present on line 59b, "Current taxable year's credit," preventing reject "DRKPARSE" on element "CrdtCaryOverLmtatn."

Arizona Update 24

  • Individual Package
    • General Programming update.

Massachusetts Update 17

  • Individual Package:
    • An update prevents Schedule EC, Solar and Wind Energy Credit, from being generated when an EC screen has been deleted.
    • An update prevents any unemployment excluded for tax purposes from being removed from income that is considered for MA Schedule CB, Senior Circuit Breaker Tax Credit.

Michigan Update 18

  • Individual Package:
    • Form MI-1040, MI Individual Income Tax Return, has been updated to allow the preparer to sign the return with an alternate electronic signature.
    • Form 5678, Michigan Signed Distribution Statement for Joint Owners of Farmland Development Rights Agreements, has been updated to produce a two-digit county code in column A, even when only one digit is entered in data entry, resolving reject "DRKPARSE" on element "CountyCode." 
  • Fiduciary Package:
    • Schedule 3, Column C, "Allocation of Net Michigan Adjustment," of Form MI-1041, Michigan Fiduciary Income Tax Return, will now produce the expected result, resolving reject "160."
    • Forms MI-4797, Sales of Business Property, and MI-8949, Sales and Dispositions of Capital Assets, have been updated to accept the following entries, resolving reject "DRKPARSE" on elements "DateAcquired" and "DateSold":
      • Date Acquired: "INHERITED"
      • Date Sold: "VARIOUS", "BANKRUPT", and "WORTHLESS"

Minnesota Update 13

  • Individual Package
    • Overrides for lines 15-17 on MN screen MNA will now adjust the total contribution amount allowed, as intended, on line 18 of Schedule M1SA, Minnesota Itemized Deductions.
    • Negative values may no longer be entered on line 7, "Unemployment compensation excluded from income," of MN screen 1NC, resolving reject "DRKPARSE" on element "FederalAdjAmt."

Montana Update 19

  • Individual Package:
    • Additional guidance has been added to the bottom of MT screen SCH6 to help prevent erroneous data entry for MT returns with a filing status of Married Filing Separately on Same Form, aiding in preventing reject "Form2-E132."
    • EF Message 1209 will no longer generate erroneously, preventing e-file of an amended Form 2, Montana Individual Income Tax Return.
    • Override amounts entered on line 6, "Montana light vehicle registration fees," of MT screen SCH3 will now flow as intended to line 6 on the Itemized Deductions Schedule (page 7) of Form 2, Montana Individual Income Tax Return, preventing reject "Form2-E048."
    • EF Message 0131 has been added to the program, preventing reject "DRKPARSE" on element "NOL."
    • EF Message 0132 has been added to the program, preventing reject "DRKPARSE" on element "OtherDeductions."
    • When there is an "unemployment compensation" amount present on line 7 of federal Schedule 1, as well as an unemployment compensation exclusion amount on line 8, "Other income," the line 7 amount will now flow as intended to line 7 of the Montana Subtractions Schedule (page 5) of MT Form 2, Montana Individual Income Tax Return. Additionally, the line 8 amount will now flow to line 14, "Other additions," on the Montana Additions Schedule (page 4) of Form 2 with a description of "UCE."

Nebraska Update 12

  • Individual, Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • Program changes have been made regarding new parcel ID number specifications for Form PTC, Nebraska Property Tax Incentive Act Credit Computation, as per the NE DoR.

New Hampshire Update 7

  • Individual Package:
    • A rare rounding issue has been resolved on line 4d, "Part-year resident non-taxable income pro rata share," of Form DP-10, New Hampshire Dividends and Interest Tax Return, resolving reject "NHID0-013."
    • Schedule IV, Other IRC Reconciling Adjustments, has been updated with the ability to produce a new schedule for every Form NH-1040, Business Profits Tax Return, included in the return. Previously, only one Schedule IV would be produced.
  • Partnership Package:
    • Form NH-1065, Business Profits Tax Return, has been updated to produce a "0" (zero) on line 8, "NH Apportionment", when an apportionment of "0" is calculated on Form DP-80, Business Profits Tax Apportionment, resolving reject "NH1065-007."
  • Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • EF Message 3045 will now be generated when the amount of credits on line 9, "Credits applied to BPT," of Form DP-160, Schedule of  Credits, exceeds the number of available credits, resolving reject "NHDP160-008."

Ohio Update 26

  • Individual Package:
    • OH-1241: Ohio Guest Payment Service link available on OH Screen 1 "General Information" and OH School District Screen "School District Tax."
    • The Ohio Department of Taxation has announced their NEW Guest Payment Service portal that provides taxpayers the convenience to make individual and school district income tax payments electronically without having to register for an Online Services account. The Guest Payment Service portal allows taxpayers to make payments for free using an electronic check. This payment method withdraws funds directly from a checking or savings account. In the Guest Payment Service portal, taxpayers can make the following types of individual income and school district income tax payments:
      • Original return and extension payments (IT 40P / SD 40P)
      • Amended return payments (IT 40XP / SD 40XP)
      • Estimated payments (IT 1040ES / SD 100ES)
      • Billing and assessment payments
  • Corporation and Partnership Packages:
    • An update allows Form IT 1140, Pass-Through Entity and Trust Withholding Tax Return, to be e-filed as intended when "OH" is selected on the federal EF screen.

Oregon Update 14

  • S Corporation and Partnership Packages:
    • The appropriate address will now be printed in the filing instructions and client results letter for OR composite returns.
  • Corporation, S Corporation, and Partnership Packages:
    • More field helps have been added to the new Corporate Activity Tax screens.
  • Individual, Corporation, S Corporation, Partnership, and Fiduciary Packages:
    • The "Taxfiler Email" line on page 2 of Portland Forms SP, C, SC, P, and E has been updated to include a maximum of 35 characters.
    • The appropriate phone number will now be printed on all Portland BZT-V payment vouchers.

Rhode Island Update 13

  • Individual Package:
    • EF Message 1049 now alerts the preparer that e-file is disallowed when more than 25 Forms W-2s and 1099s containing RI income tax withholding flow to RI Schedule W, Rhode Island W-2 and 1099 Information - Page 4. This update also prevents DRKPARSE error (307,5), associated with this issue.
    • EF Message 1029 is no longer generated when Form RI AMD, Supplement to Individual Income Tax Return, is being e-filed.
    • RI extensions will no longer receive a green check mark in the "EF Status" column of the Calculation Results window. RI extensions are not eligible for e-file and should not be displayed as ready for e-file.
    • The following forms have been approved for printing by the RI DoR:
      • 2021 Estimated Rhode Island Income Tax Worksheet
      • 2021 RI-1040ES, Rhode Island Resident and Nonresident Estimated Payment Coupons
  • Corporation Package:
    • A display error on the Calculation Results window, created when an extension for Form RI-1120C, Business Corporation Tax Return, and extensions for other state returns, are included in the calculation, has been resolved.

West Virginia Update 11

  • Individual Package:
    • EF Message 0121 has been added to the program and will now be generated when incorrect information has been entered on Part II of WV screen A. All three of the following eligibility requirements must be met in order for the EF Message to be cleared:
    • The taxpayer must be a resident of Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Virginia OR a member of the military assigned to active duty in WV whose domicile is outside WV
    • The WV income withholding entered is only from wages and salaries
    • The aforementioned WV income tax was withheld from such wages and salaries by employer(s), WV is conforming with the federal unemployment compensation exclusion include in the American Rescue Plan. The addition modification on WV Schedule M, Line 53, for the amount of UCE claimed on on the Federal return has now been removed. If you have already filed this return without the UCE deduction, then an amended WV-140 will be required to claim the deduction.
