Why was this individual return with an SSN in the EIN field on a W-2 rejected?
The reject code you may be seeing is FW2-502:
Form W-2, Line B 'EmployerEIN' must match data in the eFile database.
The IRS will reject a return if the EIN entered on the W-2 is either incorrect or is an SSN. Employers must have an EIN on their Form W-2 that matches what the IRS has on file.
