Hosting on Rightworks - e-File Form Location (DAS)

Drake Accounting®: Where are the W2, W3, 1098, 1099 and other e-file forms saved when using Rightworks?

Uploading from Rightworks Browser

Rightworks saves e-file forms by default on the I:\ inside the Rightworks Desktop. A web browser is available on your Rightworks Desktop, so you are able to log in to the IRS or state DOR website from that browser and upload forms directly from your Rightworks I:\.

  1. Log in to your Rightworks Desktop.
  2. Launch the web browser available on Rightworks and navigate to the IRS or state DOR website.
  3. When prompted on the website to upload, browse to the saved file located on the Rightworks Desktop (I:).
    • For a federal form, you will need to browse to I:\DrakeAccounting20YY\DAS20YYData\Clients\CLIENTCODE\EFile\Federal
      • In DAS20 and prior, you will need to browse to I:\DrakeAccounting20YY\Clients\CLIENTCODE\EFile\Federal
    • For a state form, you will browse to I:\DrakeAccounting20YY\Clients\CLIENTCODE\EFile\ST
      • In DAS20 and prior, you will need to browse to I:\DrakeAccounting20YY\DAS20YYData\Clients\CLIENTCODE\EFile\ST
      • Note: YY is the year of DAS, CLIENTCODE is the name of the client, and ST is the state abbreviation (i.e. NC for North Carolina).
    • The exact location can be viewed by going to DAS on your Rightworks Desktop and selecting e-Filings > Manage e-Files > Open Location.
  4. Complete the upload depending on the IRS or DOR website instructions.

If you prefer to upload files from your local computer to your local web browser, you must move the forms from your Rightworks Desktop down to your local computer (see steps below).

Uploading from Local Browser

When you are uploading Forms to the IRS and other state DORs from your local browser, you cannot choose the virtual (Hosted) location as the save location. Forms must be saved locally on your machine in order to allow them to be selected for the upload. Rightworks saves e-file forms by default on the I:\ inside the Rightworks Desktop. To move the files to your local computer, follow these steps:

  1. From your local computer (not within Rightworks), open your web browser and navigate to https://filemanager.rightnetworks.com/.
  2. Enter your Rightworks credentials and click Log On.
  3. Browse to the file(s) on the Rightworks Desktop (I:).
    • For a federal form, you will need to browse to I:\DrakeAccounting20YY\Clients\CLIENTCODE\EFile\Federal
  4. Select the file(s) that need to be downloaded.
    • CTRL + Click allows you to select multiple files at once.
  5. Click the Download icon.
  6. The files are downloaded to your local computer. If you do not have a default save location for downloads, you may be prompted for a save location.
  7. On the IRS or state DOR websites you can now browse to that location, select the file(s), and upload them successfully.
