Drake Pay - Collect In-Person Payments with Card Swipe Device

You can now use supported card swipe devices to collect payment information for Drake Pay.
Supported Devices
The following devices have been tested and are compatible with Drake Tax, however, other devices may also be compatible

Note You can purchase a supported device from anywhere devices are sold.
Setup
To set up your card swipe device, simply plug the device into your computer.
Process Payments
To process a payment, follow these steps.

In View/Print mode, review the client’s Bill. Make any necessary adjustments using the BILL screen or the Fee override field on screen 1. If you make any changes, be sure to recalculate the return.

From the Data Entry Menu, click Payments to open the Drake Pay window.

The Amount Due flows from the client’s Bill and is used to automatically complete the required Amount to Pay field. Override the Amount to Pay, if necessary, and enter an Invoice Memo, if desired.

Check Generate e-sign receipt, if you also have a signature pad.

Click on the In-person Transaction tab.

For Transaction type, select Card swipe.

Swipe the card.
Important Do not click any other field after selecting Card swipeas it will interrupt the reading process.

The Swipe status will say: Success … Ready for processing and the Card data (card type and last digits of the card number) will be displayed.

Enter the CVV code from the card.

Enter or verify the Receipt email.

Click Process Payment.
Issues
Device Status Not Ready
If the Device status says No Device Detected, you may not have connected a compatible device. Try plugging the device in again and refreshing the connection.

About Drake Pay Page
If you click on the Payments icon and see the following screen, verify your application status by going to the Drake Software Support website and selecting Products > Drake Pay. If the application is accepted, reconfirm your EFIN in Drake Tax via Setup > Firms, and be sure to click Save. Afterward, recalculate the return and attempt to process the payment again.
