11009: OR - Portland Arts Tax

Oregon

Can the Portland Arts Tax return be generated in Drake Tax?

Under the Arts Tax, Portland residents must file an Arts Tax return - shown in view as OR ARTS. On this return, each individual in the household who is over 18 and makes at least $1,000 owes $35. This tax is payable by check made out to City of Portland by April 15th (adjusted for weekends or holidays).

Drake Tax provides data entry for the Arts Tax on the OR > City/County Tax tab ARTS screen. To generate the return, make a selection in the TSJ box at the top and enter a check number to correlate the return with the check that will be written and mailed. This prints the check number on the form and voucher. Taxpayer and Spouse annual income amounts will flow from federal entries, unless overridden. Select the first dependent in the drop list and enter their annual income (if applicable). To enter additional household member details and income, press Page Down to create a second ARTS screen, as needed.

Exemptions are available for households with income totals below the federal poverty level. After making the entries above, review the OR ARTS form, page 2, Schedule A Household Poverty Exemptions in view mode, and the instructions for details.

The form can be generated and printed from Drake Tax and then mailed with the check (if a payment is required) to:
