Drake Accounting - Ohio RITA Form W-2

Starting with Drake Accounting 2025, you can generate Form W-2 that is formatted for Ohio RITA.

Important  RITA requires additional fields that are not on the federal Form W-2.

Employees Menu

  1. Go to Employees > Federal Forms and choose Form Type: Form W-2/W-3 and then Form: W-2 in the drop lists.

  2. Click Adjust State/Locality entries.

  3. Click the radio button Boxes 15-20.

  4. Scroll over to see the RITA Code 1 column.

    • If you have multiple Ohio entries for boxes 15-20, you will need to edit both State 1 and State 2.

  5. Double-click on the RITA Code 1 column to open the Ohio RITA Website - Tax Rates Table.

  6. Change the tab to the applicable tax year.

  7. Locate the municipality in the grid and retrieve the code from the Code column.

  8. Return to Drake Accounting and type that code in the RITA Code 1 column.
  9. Use the drop-down to choose either Work or Residential for RITA Locality.

    • Locality type is configured under Employee Setup > Local Tax > Work Localities.

  10. Click OK.

  11. Go to e-Filings > W-2 > Create File.

  12. Ensure that the employee is listed, then click Create File.

  13. A pop-up explains that your Ohio RITA Formatted W-2 files are stored in the RITA Folder under Ohio. You can click the blue link beside The file is located in ___. to open the W-2 folder and browse to the Ohio RITA file.

  14. Navigate to the Ohio RITA W-2 Reporting Requirements website to review requirements and test the W-2 submission. Once you are ready to upload, log in to your Ohio RITA MyAccount to proceed.

On the Fly Menu

  1. Go to Employees > Federal Forms and choose Form Type: Form W-2/W-3 and then Form: W-2 in the drop lists.
