Drake Pay is integrated with Drake Tax Online starting with Tax Year 2023.

Important  The following article discusses Drake Pay, not Drake Refund Pay. Drake Refund Pay is not available for Drake Tax Online users at this time.

Setup

  1. Log in to your Drake Tax Online dashboard and launch the appropriate year of Drake Tax Online.

  2. Make sure that your information is accurate on Setup > Firm Setup.

  3. Click Save.

POS Device

POS devices can be used to receive credit, debit, or contactless payments from your clients when you partner with Drake Pay. To add a POS device, follow these steps:

  1. From the Drake Tax Online dashboard, select the Tax year that you want to launch.

  2. Go to Setup > Setup Options.

  3. Click the POS Devices tab.

  4. Click Add POS Device.

  5. Enter a Device Name and the serial number.

    Note  If you have an Ingenico Desk 3500, enter the last 16 digits of the serial number.

  6. Click Save.

POS Device Parameter Download

A parameter download will load your POS device with the latest settings and helps make sure your device is ready to run transactions. This is only necessary for new installations, or when changes to your Drake Pay account are made. Use the Param Download icon to start the installation. This process usually takes between 1-3 minutes.

POS Device Reset

A device reset happens automatically after every transaction. If your device is not responding correctly after a transaction is completed, use the Device Reset icon to start a manual reset.

Payment Steps

Once the return is complete, go to the [...] menu > Drake Pay to process the payment using Drake Pay.

The Drake Pay window is displayed: 

  1. Under Amount to charge, enter the total amount to be collected.

  2. Under Payment methods, select one of the following and continue below: 

    • Enter card details

    • Use Point of Sale (POS) device

    • Send payment request

Note  After the payment is made, the amount is carried to the BILL screen and reflected on the return invoice.

After selecting Enter card details from the drop-list, click Open Secure Form.

Enter the card information on the screen, then click Charge.

POS Device

After selecting Use Point of Sale (POS) device from the drop-list, under Select POS Device choose the radio button beside the POS device that you want to use (if there is only one device connected, it will be automatically selected).

The screen will show that the device is connected. Follow the prompts on the device to complete the payment.

Payment Request

After selecting Send payment request from the drop-list, enter the taxpayer's email address or mobile phone number and click Send payment request. A status bar will show at the bottom of the page that says Payment request sent and the customer will receive an email with a link to Pay Now.
