Drake Tax Online (DTO) is Drake Software’s new fully web-based tax preparation platform designed to provide tax professionals with flexible, modern tools to manage returns. DTO supports access from any internet-enabled device, integrates with key Drake products like Portals and e-Sign, and introduces exclusive features such as guided workflows, in-app messaging, and flexible data entry.

Drake Tax Online replaces our legacy web-based products (Drake Zero and Web1040), that only supported the creation and filing of individual returns. DTO supports the creation and filing of Forms 1040, 1120-S, and 1065. If you need to file other return types, you will have access to a customized version of Drake Tax Desktop. This allows you to use features that are unique to the desktop, with the click of a button. See below for details.

Caution  Mac and Linux users can use DTO, however, they would not be able to use features that are only available through the Drake Tax Desktop Integration as that version is subject to the same system requirements detailed in Drake Tax - System Requirements.

Desktop Integration Features

The following features are only available in the Drake Tax Desktop integration:

  • Traditional Data Entry

  • Keyboard shortcuts

  • Married Filing Joint (MFJ) Split Analysis & Return Splitting

  • K-1 Export Functionality

  • GruntWorx Integration

  • Interactive View/Print Mode

  • Data entry for 1120, 1041, 990, 706 returns (these return types are created online, but all entries must be done using the Drake Tax Desktop integration)

Unavailable Features

The following features are not currently available in DTO, even when using the Desktop integration. These features may be available online in future tax years.

  • Drake Tax Planner

  • Drake Documents (DDM)

  • Organizers

  • Proformas

  • Drake Refund Pay

  • Signature pads

    • You can use Drake Portals to request remote signatures.
