Drake Tax - Configuring a Firewall

Overview
Note For general information on how to diagnose a connection problem, see articles below.
A firewall is security software that blocks some transmissions between your computer program and the internet (or another network) and denies access to some web addresses. If you experience problems transmitting returns or checking acknowledgements, you may need to configure a firewall on the transmitting computer to allow your computer to access Drake web addresses and/or to allow Drake Tax executable files to access the internet. Firewalls are also sometimes found on a network router.
Typically, a firewall maintains the following:
-
A list of programs that have tried to access the internet, showing whether access is allowed. On the program list, find the Drake files and look for controls that permit you to upgrade them to the most "trusted" level of access available. If a file is not listed, look for controls for allowing or adding a program, and then upgrade the level of access if necessary.
-
A list of web addresses that may be blocked or allowed. Configure the list to allow access to the Drake web addresses listed above.
If you have difficulty identifying firewall controls that regulate internet access:
-
Search help for your firewall program about how to permit access to websites or internet access by programs,
-
Contact the firewall supplier,
-
Call Drake Support, (828) 524-8020.
Important Drake Software recommends configuring, not disabling, a firewall.
A firewall protects your computer from viruses and other malicious intrusions. Configure a firewall to allow Drake Tax, but do not disable the firewall.
Identify the Firewall
If you think you may be dealing with a firewall but can’t identify it, see Drake Tax - Finding AV, Firewalls, Printers or Network Drives - Use Drake System Diagnostics. A firewall usually loads when you start your computer. If you are able to reboot your computer in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with network, and the problem disappears, a start-up program is a likely cause and a firewall would be a prime suspect.
Configure the Firewall
Open your firewall program and configure the firewall to allow or permit the Drake web addresses and executable files listed below.
