Drake Tax - MT - Return No Longer Needed

To remove an unnecessary Montana return, you must remove all references to MT in federal data entry and delete any Montana state-specific data entry screens.

1. Go to the Montana data entry.

2. Open any screens that have been either partially or fully created, but should not be included in the return.

   • Commonly, the Montana COMP screen, located on the Other tab will be generated based on the info from a prior-year return.

3. While the screen is still open, press Ctrl + D on your keyboard to delete the screen.

4. Select Yes on the pop up Are you Sure?

5. Next, remove the deleted records by repairing the file. Press Ctrl + Shift + R to activate the Repair Client File screen.

   • Keep the check box Automatically remove State Calculation Result Records selected.

6. Click Repair.

7. Select Yes to Save Changes.

8. View the return and Montana should no longer be generated.

   Note  If the MT return is still being generated, check for other entry points pointed to MT in both federal and state data entry.
