EF Message 5330
This message indicates that you have entered an incorrect number in the ERO's PIN Signature field on the PIN screen. To resolve this, follow the steps below.
-
Go to screen 1 of the return and verify which preparer is selected as the ERO in the ERO # box.
Note If there is nothing selected in the ERO # override on screen 1, you can override it to the desired ERO and then go to step 2. For more information about the default ERO, see below.
-
On the PIN screen, enter the ERO's PIN in the box ERO's PIN signature. If you are not sure what number was selected for the preparer who is listed as the ERO, see Set up PIN below.
Default ERO
To check or select a Default ERO, go to Setup > Options > EF tab > Default ERO drop-list.
-
If the Default ERO is Preparer 1-9, that preparer's PIN is what is expected on the PIN screen of every return (unless overridden on a return-by-return basis).
-
If the Default ERO is Return Preparer, then the Preparer and ERO will be the same, unless the override on screen 1 is used.
Set Up PIN
-
Close the return and go to Setup > Preparers and Users.
Important If you cannot access Setup > Preparers and Users, contact your office administrator.
-
Select the preparer for whom edits need to be made.
-
Click Edit User.
-
Under Return Signature Options, confirm or enter a 5-digit number in the PIN Signature box and a check in the box 8879 PIN Signature.
Note The option Alternative Electronic Signature is not required for e-filing. This option prints the preparer's name on any form where there is a paid preparer signature line.
-
Click Save and Exit setup.
-
Enter the ERO PIN on the PIN screen in the ERO's PIN signature box.
-
Calculate the return and the message should be cleared.
