The Cash Flow Statement (Accounting > Reports > Cash Flow) requires the following items to be produced:

  • The Level 0 accounts you expect to show up on the report must be correctly set up in the Chart of Accounts.

  • Transactions for those accounts must be entered.

  • The report must cover a date range that includes those transactions.

To verify that you have set up the Chart of Accounts correctly, select the Accounting menu, then Chart of Accounts. Select the desired account to edit, either by double clicking on the account or clicking on the account once and selecting the edit icon. Review the option selected in the Cash Flow Classification section.

The option defaults to N/A, which would cause the account to not be produced on the report. Select the appropriate classification for the account: Operating, Investing, Financing, or Cash.

Note  The Cash Flow Classification is only available for Level 0 (postable) accounts.

Once the Chart of Accounts setup is completed/corrected and transactions have been entered for those accounts, the Cash Flow Statement is generated based on the date range selected when producing the report. The transactions do not have to be posted before generating this statement.
