How to mark the NJ return to show that the dependent does not have health insurance
The software assumes that dependents do not have insurance for New Jersey purposes, unless otherwise indicated. If the dependents do not have health insurance, no other entries are required.
If a dependent does have insurance, return to data entry. From the General tab select screen 2 Dependents for the dependent with coverage. At the bottom of the screen, check Dependent has insurance.
When you view the dependent information section of the NJ1040.PG2, the section No Health Insurance will now be unmarked.
If the box Yes is marked on NJ screen HCC, the "No Health Insurance" indicator is also removed for all dependents. See Drake Tax - NJ - Healthcare Shared Responsibility Payment for more information about the NJ healthcare shared responsibility payments.
