The Rightworks File Manager allows you to upload and download files and folders (including backups) to your RN Desktop from anywhere. This process functions independently from the Rightworks Desktop.

The File Manager cannot be used from within the Rightworks Desktop. You must use the browser on your local computer or mobile device to access the File Manager.

Note  Files should not be open or in use in Rightworks when uploading or downloading. Access to File Manager requires an active Rightworks hosting subscription.

To get started, open your web browser and navigate to https://filemanager.rightworks.com/. Enter your Rightworks credentials and click Log On.

Tip  The Rightworks article provides more details and examples.

  5. The files are downloaded to your local computer. If multiple files are selected, they will download as a .zip file. If you do not have a default save location for downloads, you may be prompted for a save location.

Note  Ensure files are not open in Rightworks before downloading.

Uploading or Downloading Folders

Folders cannot be uploaded directly using File Manager.

  1. Compress (zip) the folder on your local computer.

  2. Upload the .zip file using File Manager.

  3. Extract the files in your Rightworks environment after uploading.

When downloading multiple files or folders, they are automatically compressed into a .zip file.

View, Edit, or Delete Files

From the File Manager Window you can Open, Cut, Copy, Delete, or Rename any file in the list. To see the list of options, select and then right click on the file in question.

Note  *Other available locations on the Rightworks Desktop include My Documents (Hosted) and Desktop (Hosted). These locations are only visible to the logged in user. Generally, the I:/ should be used as it will allow files to be shared among the other users on your account. The I:\ should be chosen if moving backup items for later restoration into Drake Tax or Drake Accounting.

Note  For small files, you may find it faster to use copy and paste between your local and hosted environments. Always log out of File Manager when finished.
