A local drive is a drive that is directly connected to your computer. These can be internal (installed by the manufacturer) or external (connected via USB). Generally speaking, a local drive is only able to be accessed by the user of that computer.

Tip  The C:\ is a computer's primary hard drive. For a standalone user, the program would typically be installed on the C:\.

A network drive is a drive that can be accessed by users over a network. A network can be hardwired or wireless.

Caution  Your office’s network must be properly configured for Drake Software to run correctly. Microsoft provides some limited information about networks. Drake Software cannot provide technical support for the network itself. For more detailed assistance related to network setup or support, consult an IT professional.
