Overview
When you send a payment request from Drake Tax, Drake Accounting, or the Drake Pay Manager, the taxpayer will soon have the option to pay by ACH. With ACH, clients can use their bank account, instead of a credit or debit card, to pay the amount due.
The cost to use ACH is 1% + $0.60 per transaction. Each transaction must be a minimum of $50. The fee is paid by the preparer (merchant), not the client (taxpayer). Other fees may apply – see the submerchant agreement for details.
For details on sending payment requests see Drake Pay – Sending Payment Requests Once the taxpayer has completed their ACH payment, you will see the following statuses in the Drake Pay Manager as the payment is processed.
You can also use the Drake Pay and Drake Refund Pay – Check Payment Request Status feature to see the payment status.
Taxpayer Steps
The taxpayer will see available options when they click Pay Now on their invoice. See Drake Pay – Payment Requests - Taxpayer View for details.
Frequently Asked Questions
ACH (Automated Clearing House) is an electronic payment network that allows direct transfers between bank accounts. It is commonly used for bill payments, direct deposits, and business transactions.
ACH payments typically take up to 4 business days to process, depending on bank processing times and submission deadlines.
Note Business days do not include weekends or bank holidays.
If processing is taking longer than expected, the taxpayer should verify the transaction with their bank. You can also contact Drake Pay support at (828) 349-5305 for more assistance.
Clients (taxpayers) need to provide their name, their bank’s routing number, bank’s name, account number, and account type to initiate an ACH payment.
ACH payments are regulated by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA). Fraud protection measures, such as account verification and transaction monitoring, are included.
If you have already approved to offer Drake Pay, you are now able to offer ACH payments – no additional steps are required.
If you have not already completed your Drake Pay application, you can complete the application online. See Drake Pay and Drake Refund Pay – Application Process for details.
If you have sent a payment request, you can cancel the request by selecting the payment request in Drake Tax or the Drake Pay Manager and choosing Cancel. If processing has already begun, cancellation is not available. See Drake Pay and Drake Refund Pay – Check Payment Request Status for details.
