How to depreciate computer software
The field help for the Description field on screen 4562 (press F1) provides the following guidance:
Computer software can be depreciated in one of several ways:
To carry to line 19, use MACRS – Three years.
To carry to line 42, use AMT – Three years.
To carry to line 16, use SL – Three years.
You must also add /CS at end of the description. (For example, Microsoft Windows/CS)
Note that the /CS in the description must be in capitals.
