Drake Tax - NC: Authorizing the Preparer to Speak on Behalf of a Client

To indicate that the preparer is authorized to speak with the North Carolina Department of Revenue on behalf of the client:

1. From the Data Entry Menu, open the States tab.

2. Open NC.

3. Click the Other tab.

4. Open the POA screen.

5. Complete the applicable power of attorney selection for the return.

The specific authorization is entered on the NC POA screen rather than on the federal return. You can check the box to Use information from federal 2848 at the bottom of the screen.
