You cannot schedule estimated tax payments when sending an extension Form 4868. Estimated tax payments can only be scheduled for withdrawal when sending the regular return.

In order to clear EF Message 5406 and allow transmission of the extension Form 4868, return to data entry and remove the PMT screen entries for the estimated tax payments. If the taxpayer wishes to send additional amounts with the extension payment, you can increase the amount to be paid with the extension on the PMT screen. Otherwise, remove the check boxes for the First-Fourth Quarters on the PMT screen:

If you are sending the regular return instead of the extension, verify that the correct selections have been made on the EF, PMT, PIN, and EXT screens to indicate that the regular return should be sent. In this circumstance, estimated payments may be included with the e-file transmission of Form 1040.
