Drake Tax - MA: Schedule EC Not Produced with No Tax Status

Overview

Schedule EC (MAEC in View/Print mode) calculates a non-refundable credit; therefore, is not produced in a Massachusetts return that qualifies for the No Tax Status. The credit cannot be used this year because there is no tax liability against which it can be applied. Overrides and entries for prior-year carryovers can be made on MA screen EC.

You can keep track of the credit carry-forward by using the Note screen. An entry in the Miscellaneous Notes field of that screen will be updated to next year and an option can be set to open the note when you open the return. See Drake Tax - Adding a Preparer Note for details.
