How to indicate the spouse is itemizing or the taxpayer is a dual-status alien
The box is checked by the software in an MFS (Married Filing Separate) return when itemizing is forced on the A screen by selection of Force itemized.
The check box is located in the demographic section on page 1 of the 1040.
